What is the Caste of Urmila Matondkar?

Urmila Matondkar was one of the most popular Bollywood actresses of 90s. She has worked in many successful films, mostly by Ram Gopal Verma. She has now settled with her family life after getting married with Mohsin Akhtar.


The hibernation period is now over for Urmila. She is again in news. This time for an altogether different reason!

Urmila has joined Indian National Congress. She is all set to be nominated by Congress for Mumbai North Lok Sabha Constituency. It means she will be pitched against Gopal Shetty.

Gopal Shetty is quite popular in the area. Even Priya Dutt didn’t dare to fight against him. The selection of Urmila is based on arithmetic based on her caste.

Urmila is not a Marathi Brahmin. By caste, she is a Gomantak Maratha. With sizeable number of Gomantak Maratha in Mumbai North, Congress wants to give tough fight to Gopal Shetty.
